General Purpose Grants:
The Federation implented a general purpose grant program in June 2006. Since then, the generosity of The Humane Society of the United States has allowed us to make available up to $2,000 per quarter for member groups of the Federation. The next deadline for General Purpose Grants is September 30, 2008. Since September 2006, the Federation has awarded grants to Washington animal groups to help them with their work. We thank all of the organizations who have applied for a grant and congratulate those who have been awarded one. Here are a sampling of applicants: Peninsula Spay/Neuter Project - $1,000 spaying/neutering of feral cats Okanogan County Animal Foster Care - $1,000 for spaying/neutering of stray cats Abandoned Cat Team - $1,000 for spaying neutering of cats in a focused area The N.O.A.H. Center - $1,000 for large surgery recovery kennel The Humane Society for Seattle/King County - $1,000 for "Spay Yo Mama" program SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. - $1,000 for laptop computer Seattle Animal Shelter - $1,000 for animal environment enrichment program South County Cats - $1,000 general services Stevens County Cat Care - $1,000 spay/neuter program enhancement Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project - $1,000 anesthesia masks
We Love Our Pets Grant
Starting early 2007, the Federation has started to receive revenue from the sales of the We Love Our Pets license plates. These funds have been earmarked through an agreement with the State of Washington for actual surgeries for dogs and cats in our state. Grants are available to Federation members who have participated in the annual statistics survey. A sample of We Love Our Pets grantees are listed below: Forget-Me-Not Shelter - $2,100 Pawsitive Alliance - $4,000 Purr'Fect Pals - $5,000 Okanogan Animal Foster Care - $2,100 PetSavers - $5,000 Clarkston Police Department - $2,500 Stevens County Cat Care - $5,000 Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project - $4,997 |
