New Members:
If you are interested in joining The Federation, here are some of the benefits you will have as a member:
- Washington State Statistics Survey: The Federation annually surveys animal organizations throughout the state to compile state-wide statistics. As a member of the Federation, you will receive a free copy of the survey. The survey is a great budgeting tool, demonstrates the successes of our organizations and is useful for local animal code revision decisions.
- Spay/Neuter Help - Through the Pet Friendly License Plate Revenue: The Federation campaigned for the "Pet Friendly" license plate and now manages the revenue received from these special plates to benefit member's spay/neuter programs. Grant applications are accepted from members that have completed their animal statistics survey (see above). The application process is simple and the funds can benefit your agency's efforts to impact pet overpopulation in your area.
- Representation in Olympia: With assistance of our paid lobbyist, we track legislation affecting animals in our state. The Legislative Committee actively researches issues and solutions for pet overpopulation, and provide guidance to agencies working on local codes and legislation.
- Emergency Animal Relief Funds: The Federation administers funds to help member agencies with Emergency Animal Relief in the event of a disaster or emergency. After experiencing a flood in their facility, the Whidbey Animal Improvement Foundation (WAIF) was granted funds to purchase an emergency generator.
- Professional Development: As a member you'll be the first to know about the professional trainins arranged by The Federation on current topics like grant writing and compassion fatigue, and you'll find out when local conferences or national speakers will be in town.
- Link to Others and Your Organization: You can post job openings, training opportunities and submit relevant information for collegues about hot topics and trends on The Federation website. You'll also find updates posted by The Federation on laws or sitautions (like the pet food recall) that may impact your agency an the animals.
